Privacy policy

This policy explains what Wispr Craft (the app) and wispr-craft.jitterstack.com (this website) do with information. In short: the app collects nothing about you, and the website collects only what you choose to send.

1. Who we are

Wispr Craft is made and published by Jitterstack Ltd (“Jitterstack”, “we”). You can reach us through the feedback form.

2. The app

• Your voice stays on your computer. Speech is turned into text by a model that runs on your device. Audio is held in memory while you speak and then discarded; it is never saved and never sent to us.
• No account, no analytics, no crash reports. The app has no way to send us usage data, and we run no server for it.
• What is stored on your computer. Your settings, dictionary, snippets, history, notes and meeting transcripts are kept in the app's data folder. You can switch history off or erase everything under Privacy in the app, or delete the folder.
• Downloads you start. When you download a speech or writing model, your computer contacts the host of that file (for example Hugging Face or GitHub), which sees your network address, as any download does. Nothing else is downloaded.
• Online mode (optional, off by default). If you connect your own OpenAI-compatible service with your own key, the audio or text you choose to process goes to that service under its terms, not to us. The key is kept in your system's credential store. The app lists every such request in a privacy receipt.
• Meetings. Recording a call is your decision and your responsibility; see the terms of service. Transcripts stay on your computer.
• Links to this website. The feedback, privacy and terms buttons open this website in your browser only when you click them. The feedback link carries the app version and your system name (Windows or Mac) so we know what a message is about.

3. This website

• No cookies and no tracking. We use no analytics and no advertising. The site keeps a small note in your browser's storage so it can remember that you have already rated Wispr Craft; it never leaves your browser.
• Downloads and the download count. The installers are sent from our own service. To count a download only once, it keeps a one-way scrambled form of your network address for a short time; it cannot be turned back into the address, and we do not know or keep who you are.
• Hosting. Our hosting providers (currently Cloudflare) process technical request data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under their own policies.
• Feedback and star ratings. If you send a rating or a message, we store the stars, the message, the kind of feedback, the app version and system you passed along, and the email address if you gave one. Each message is also emailed to our team inbox. We use it to improve Wispr Craft, and the email address only to answer you. We keep it for as long as it is useful and at most 24 months. Ratings are shown only as totals. Please do not include sensitive personal information in a message.

4. Your choices and rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use. To do so, write to us through the feedback form and include the email address you used. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data-protection authority.

5. Children

Wispr Craft is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

6. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and for anything that affects what we collect we will say so on the home page.
